Umm…don’t look now. But, we’re about to tick over three months since New Year.
I know. I KNOW! You didn’t want to know that right?
I’m blaming a blogger friend of mine who hosts a ‘link-up’ on Mondays. A link up is where bloggers, well…they link up a post on the host’s website and then all of the bloggers who have linked a post scoot around and read one another’s posts, as many as they can, and share a bit of comment love (because we all love comment love!) and it’s just like going to a party and taking a plate! Kind of.
Anyhoo, my blogger friend Denyse has suggested ‘Three Month Review 2017’ as the theme for today’s link up. And this is why I am kindly pointing out to you, as Denyse has to me, that it has indeed been almost 3 months since New Year.
I took a little look back at the post I wrote on New Year’s Day and I quickly realised how much has happened, good and bad, in the short time since then. I made some resolutions of sorts in that post, so I thought it might be a good place to start my review.
Here’s how I’m going. I give you my Three Month Review 2017, by resolutions.
#1 Laugh more
Hmmm. I could use a bit of help with this. I haven’t really increased my laughing average. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t get around like a big misery guts but mayyyte, I could use a few more good belly laughs. How do you get yours? I must admit, I did get a giggle when I put the call out on Facebook a few weeks ago and many of you guys sure did deliver some funny stories. Oh how I laughed.
And apparently I need to watch Goggle Box?
#2 Stress less (don’t sweat the little things)
I might need some help with this one too. Do you want to know what’s stressing me no end? Getting my children to get themselves organised and quit the attitude already. Enough with the backchat! And the bickering between them? STREWTH! Honestly, I feel my anxiety rising just discussing it here so if anyone has the ‘solution’ send it to me by carrier pigeon AYE SAP please. (Side note: I prefer white over reds).
#3 Get plenty of sleep
I’m trying. But this is linked with children ‘getting themselves organised’ above. I can’t go to bed until they go to bed. Can I? No seriously. Can I? Is it okay to toddle off to bed leaving my 10 and 7 year olds to their evening ritual of bickering and general ‘tomfoolery’ whilst cleaning their teeth in the bathroom? Can I slide under the covers and ignore the game of toothbrush chasies happening in the hallway, the sound of taps running flat-out, drawers and doors slamming and raucous laughter interspersed with screams of ‘LIND. SAY. STOOOOOP’ followed by ‘MUUUUUUMMM! LINDSAY WONT STOP THROWING WATER AT ME!!!’
Can I? I swear if they just brushed their teeth and went to bed then I could follow suit and I’d bank at least another hour of sleep every night.
#4 Eat well
Okay, no-one else to blame for this one. I haven’t been doing too badly, I guess. Like, I’m not eating junk food or anything. But I still am eating way too many carbs and not enough fresh fruit and veg. I don’t know what I can do about this. A bit more forward planning perhaps? To try to make fruit and veg more convenient? That’s my downfall. When I’m busy working I’m not prepared to go to the lengths required to make a salad when I can just whack together a sambo. And when I’m having a coffee the last thing I want to put in my gob is an apple. Cake and coffee, yes. Apple and coffee, no. Do you see my conundrum?
#5 Exercise more
Okay so maybe this review wasn’t such a good idea after all. Ha!
How demoralising! 🙁
The exercise started out well! I went back to playing netball after a bit of a break and, get this….I’m doing physical culture. I know! Well….I was…
I seem to have developed a case of plantar fasciitis in my foot. I think it’s because of my tiled floors. Holy moly I’m in a world of pain. I can hardly walk. So it looks like it’s back to the podiatrist for me.
I could swim or ride my bike maybe? Hmmph. I’ll have to (continue to) think about that.
#6 Pursue some hobbies
See reference to netball and physical culture above. Nuff said.
#7 Spend time with people who make me feel good
Nailing this one! I’ve had a very social few months, what with my birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations. I attended a couple of concerts, went to a family reunion, had an afternoon with all of my siblings and parents in the one place (mine) and have had Mum and Dad in for dinner a couple of times, just because. And we caught up with my in-laws yesterday which was really nice.
I do miss my morning walks with Aunty Moo though. Damn plantar fasciitis. 🙁
#8 Blog more and relax about what I write (being among friends and all)
I think I’ve been pretty regular, posting roughly once a week. That’s not too bad is it? I did have a case of writer’s block for a few weeks there. Sadness does that to me. But being reminded of how fragile life can be has also given me some perspective. Life’s too short to be worrying about what people think. You have to do what makes you happy. Writing, sharing, connecting and finding humour in the every day, that’s what makes me happy.
And I’m on a bit of a roll folks. I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to write about and instead of over thinking it, I’m going for broke. You might have noticed?
So 2 resolutions out of 8 is a start right? Slow and steady? Wins the race? Yeah? I mean it is only March. There’s still plenty of time to turn things around. You just watch me. *flexes
ample biceps tuck shop arms*
How’s your year going so far?
Are you on track with your resolutions?
Any suggestions to help me with mine? Ha!
