Today we had a planned power outage for maintenance works in my neighbourhood from 9.30-4pm. That’s 6.5 hours without lights, music, TV, refrigeration and water. We need power to pump water to the house so no flushing of toilets, washing of hands or tap water to drink. That sucks man!
So we went out.
As luck would have it, I only had two children in care today which makes shopping a little easier than when I have my full contingent (four) so off we went to Kmart. This was a rare event indeed. And a very pleasant experience. Have any of you Tamworthian folks been there lately? I’m pretty impressed with the new layout. I called in there last night with my boy who wanted to spend some of his birthday money and I spied with my little eye lots of good stuff. I walked out with these floor mats ($16) which my little friends will love to push their cars around on.
And I also picked up this pack of foam shapes for five bucks!
There’s 612 foam stickers in there as well as other bits and bobs, so I’d say that’s a bargain.
I looked longingly at the women’s clothing from where I stood in the Nerf Gun aisle (yes I sometimes buy my clothes from Kmart and no this is not sponsored, this is just me over sharing) but ran out of time last night. So today within about half an hour of walking through the front entrance and chatting with the greeting/checkyourbagonyourwayout lady (not her real title) about the new layout, I’d loaded my trolley with two pairs of jeans, 6 long sleeve tops in a range of colours, a jumper and 2 scarves. Then we went to the park, via the drive through coffee joint.
GUESS HOW MUCH I SPENT?
$120 (plus $4.50 for the coffee).
AND I RECKON I LOOK ALRIGHT. Don’t you?
Umm….hang on. Just need to get the timer sorted.
No wait, let’s try again.
This is harder than it looks.
In my defence, these are the conditions I am working under. I give you my tripod.
Park photos I can do!
I did have a moment as I was eating lunch and playing on this beautiful Autumn day with my little friends. The combination of sunshine, good company and retail therapy all combined to make me feel pretty good in that moment. And then I had another moment when I helped one of my little friends carefully place a dead lady beetle into her empty lunch box to show Mum later.
It’s the simple things. Yes?
And now I’m home, the kidlets are having a little snooze and how many times do you reckon I’ve tried to flush the loo, flick the lights or turn the tap on? FIFTY GAZILLION. I kid you not. But that’s fifty gazillion less than it would have been had I not gone out today.
And look! NOW I’M FASHION BLOGGING. My blogging prowess knows no bounds.
I definitely need to go out more. Would you agree?
What do you think of the new look Kmart (if you hail from Tamworth that is)?
When was the last time you treated yourself to something special?
Like a $6 scarf from Kmart? 😀
